Our Review

Oh. My. Goodness. Where do I even BEGIN with Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch R2?! This anime isn't just good; it's a masterpiece that burrowed its way into my soul and refused to leave. The story picks up after the Black Rebellion, and let me tell you, the stakes are even HIGHER. Seeing Lelouch struggle with his lost memories was absolutely gut-wrenching. I was on the edge of my seat, practically screaming at the screen, wanting him to remember everything! And when he *did* remember? Oh, the sheer brilliance of it all! The twists, the turns, the political maneuvering... it's all executed with such finesse that I couldn't help but be completely captivated. The characters, as always, are phenomenal. Each one is so complex and flawed, and their motivations felt so real. I especially loved seeing Lelouch's growth throughout the season – he's not just a genius strategist; he's a human being grappling with immense power and responsibility.

Visually, Code Geass: R2 is stunning! Sunrise truly outdid themselves. The character designs are sharp and stylish, and the mecha battles are exhilarating. I was always blown away by how fluid and dynamic the animation was, especially during the action sequences. The sound design is equally impressive. The soundtrack is epic and moving, perfectly complementing the on-screen action and emotional moments. The voice acting, both in Japanese and English, is top-notch, bringing the characters to life in a way that made me feel deeply connected to them. I will say, I still get chills when I listen to the opening themes!

Overall, Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch R2 is an anime that will stay with me forever. It's a story of rebellion, sacrifice, and the complexities of morality. It's a rollercoaster of emotions that will leave you breathless, heartbroken, and ultimately, in awe. The ending? Let's just say it's one of the most impactful and unforgettable endings I've ever witnessed in anime. If you haven't seen this show, DO IT. You absolutely won't regret it. It's an easy 10/10 in my book, and I think it deserves every single bit of its stellar 8.91 score!

Synopsis

Alright, anime aficionados, buckle up because we're diving back into the mind-bending world of Code Geass with *R2*! Remember the Black Rebellion? Yeah, things didn't exactly go as planned. It's been a year since Zero's disappearance, and Britannia is cracking down hard on Area 11. The Black Knights are struggling, hope is dwindling, and honestly, things look pretty bleak. You know, the usual "anime world in despair" kind of situation.

But here's the kicker: Lelouch Lamperouge, our favorite scheming protagonist, is back to being a "normal" high school student at Ashford Academy. Only problem? He's totally forgotten everything! No Geass, no Black Knights, no plans for world domination... just homework and awkward teenage moments. Thankfully, C.C., our mysterious and pizza-loving witch, isn't about to let him off that easily. She knows Lelouch is the only one who can truly challenge Britannia, and she's determined to reignite the spark of rebellion within him. Get ready for more political intrigue, epic battles, and enough plot twists to make your head spin! Trust me, *R2* takes everything you loved about the first season and cranks it up to eleven.

They REALLY deviated from the manga after episode 10, huh? Still good, just... different.

While entertaining, the plot armor was THICK this season. Lelouch got away with way too much.
