Our Review

Written by AnimeReview Team
I am absolutely buzzing with excitement for the upcoming movie, *Made in Abyss: Mezameru Shinpi*! As a huge admirer of the series, I've been eagerly awaiting any news about its continuation, and the announcement of a new film, serving as a direct sequel to *Made in Abyss: Retsujitsu no Ougonkyou*, has my anticipation levels through the roof. The world of the Abyss is unlike anything else in anime, masterfully blending breathtaking wonder with visceral horror, and I can't wait to dive back into its unfathomable depths.

What makes the premise of Made in Abyss so captivating, and consequently, why I'm so interested in *Mezameru Shinpi*, is the sheer scope of its mystery and adventure. The Abyss itself is a character, a living, breathing entity filled with unique ecosystems, ancient relics, and the terrifying curse that makes ascent so perilous. Following Riko, Reg, and Faputa on their relentless journey downwards is always a thrilling experience. The previous season left us with so many unanswered questions and new, profound emotional scars, and I'm incredibly curious to see what new layers of the Abyss's secrets will be unveiled and what further trials our protagonists will face in this next chapter. The blend of Adventure, Drama, Fantasy, Mystery, and Sci-Fi elements is consistently handled with such precision, crafting a truly unforgettable narrative.

My hopes for *Mezameru Shinpi* are incredibly high, especially knowing that Kinema Citrus is once again at the helm. Their animation quality on the previous seasons and movies has been nothing short of spectacular, bringing both the serene beauty and the grotesque horrors of the Abyss to vivid life. I'm hoping for the same meticulous attention to detail in the character animation, the stunning environmental visuals, and the unsettling creature designs that have become a hallmark of the series. Beyond the visuals, I'm eager to see the continued emotional development of Riko, Reg, and Faputa, and how their bonds are tested and strengthened in the face of unimaginable adversity. The emotional weight and the raw, often brutal, character arcs are what elevate Made in Abyss from a simple adventure story to something truly profound.

I'm particularly looking forward to how this movie will expand upon the lore of the Abyss and further explore the enigmatic origins of its layers and the creatures that inhabit them. I hope *Mezameru Shinpi* delves deeper into the mysteries introduced in *Retsujitsu no Ougonkyou*, potentially offering new revelations about the true purpose of the Abyss, the nature of the blessings and curses, and the fates of those who dared to descend. The promise of new discoveries and even more dangerous encounters is what keeps me utterly hooked on this series. I'm prepared for both awe-inspiring moments of wonder and the signature heart-wrenching drama that Made in Abyss consistently delivers.

This movie is unequivocally at the very top of my watchlist because Made in Abyss has a unique ability to evoke such a wide range of emotions, from pure childlike wonder to existential dread, all within a single viewing. I can't wait to be transported back into this dangerous yet beautiful world and witness the next stage of Riko's unwavering quest to reach the bottom of the Abyss.

While the visuals were stunning as always, I felt like the pacing dragged a little during some of Bondrewd's exposition. Still, a solid addition, but maybe not as impactful as the first season's ending for me.

Dude, the animation for Bondrewd's fights was absolutely insane! And Prushka's story... my heart can't take this series anymore. So good! ❤️

They did the >!Prushka cartridge!< scene exactly how I imagined it from the manga, perfectly gut-wrenching. Can't wait for everyone to see what's next after this arc! 😉
