Our Review

Written by AnimeReview Team
I am absolutely buzzing with excitement for the upcoming second season of *Higeki no Genkyou to Naru Saikyou Gedou Last Boss Joou wa Tami no Tame ni Tsukushimasu.*, or as many know it, *The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen: From a Villainess's Dark History*! The first season left such a strong impression on me, and I honestly can't wait to dive back into the world of Pride Royal Ivy. The premise itself is incredibly captivating: a modern-day girl reincarnates as the villainess and future "last boss" of an otome game, knowing all the tragic routes that await her. Her determination to defy her predetermined dark fate by doing good and protecting her loved ones is what makes this series so compelling and endlessly interesting to me.

What I find most intriguing about Pride's journey is her constant internal struggle. She knows the horrible things her original character is destined to do, yet she fights against that nature with every fiber of her being, often overthinking her actions but always with the best intentions. This creates a wonderful blend of dramatic tension and heartwarming moments as she tries to save everyone around her, including those who would typically be her victims or enemies. I really enjoy the dynamics she has with her loyal retainers like Stale and Arthur, and her sweet relationship with her sister Tiara. The way she tries to manipulate events for the better, often with hilariously over-the-top "villainess" expressions, is a core part of its charm, and I'm eager to see how these relationships continue to evolve and deepen in the new season.

For Season 2, I'm really hoping to see the continuation of the nuanced character development that made the first season so great. I want to see Pride face new challenges that truly test her resolve and perhaps explore more of the political landscape and magical elements of her world. I'm also curious to see how the various plot threads left dangling from the previous season will be addressed and resolved. With Studio OLM at the helm, a studio known for handling diverse and often long-running series, I have confidence that they will maintain the high quality of animation and storytelling. Knowing this is based on a well-regarded source material also gives me hope that there's a rich story still to be told, full of both dramatic stakes and the endearing character interactions I love.

This anime is undeniably at the very top of my watchlist. The unique spin on the "villainess" trope, coupled with its genuine emotional depth and the compelling protagonist, makes it a must-watch for me. I love how it balances moments of lightheartedness with serious themes of destiny, choice, and leadership. Pride's journey to transform her grim future into one filled with hope and kindness is a narrative I find incredibly inspiring and entertaining. I truly believe it offers a fresh and engaging experience for anyone looking for a fantasy series with a strong heart.

I simply can't wait to see what new adventures and dilemmas await Pride and her loyal companions as they continue their efforts to build a better future.

Pride constantly trying to be a good person while everyone thinks she's plotting something evil is my favorite trope! 😂 Her interactions with Arthur are always gold. Still trying to figure out if Val is actually good or just really manipulative though, lol.

They absolutely nailed the intensity of Pride's confrontation with Val about the kingdom's secret! The voice acting was spot on, gave me chills just like when I read those manga chapters. So hyped for the upcoming character introductions!
