Our Review

Written by AnimeReview Team
I am absolutely brimming with excitement for the upcoming anime, *Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya (Zoku-hen)*! As a long-time fan of the *Fate* franchise and especially the *Prisma Illya* spin-off, I've been eagerly awaiting news of a continuation, and this sequel, following the intense *Licht - Namae no Nai Shoujo* movie, is exactly what I was hoping for. The blend of magical girl tropes with the darker, more complex lore of the *Fate* universe has always been a compelling draw for me, and I can't wait to see where Illya and her friends' journey takes them next.

What makes the premise of *Prisma Illya* so incredibly interesting, and this sequel even more so, is its unique position within the vast *Fate* multiverse. It takes the familiar concept of a magical girl and injects it with the high stakes, character depth, and often brutal action that *Fate* is known for. Illya, Miyu, and Chloe's struggles with the Class Cards, parallel worlds, and their own pasts have created a narrative that is both heartwarming and heartbreaking. Given that this is a direct sequel to the *Licht* movie, I’m expecting the story to pick up right where that emotionally charged arc left off, delving deeper into the consequences of their battles and the profound bonds they share.

I'm really hoping that *Zoku-hen* delivers on the incredible action sequences and emotional storytelling that the series has become synonymous with. The "Action" genre tag has me envisioning more of those visually spectacular magical girl battles, where Illya, with the power of various Servants, faces off against formidable foes. Beyond the combat, I'm eager to see further character development for Illya, Miyu, and Chloe, especially as they navigate the aftermath of the intense events of the *Licht* movie. I hope we get to explore more of their relationships and the world-building, potentially revealing more about the mysteries that still linger within their parallel world.

This new season is definitely at the top of my watchlist because *Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya* has consistently proven itself to be more than just a cute magical girl show; it's a series with a surprising amount of emotional depth and thrilling combat. I love how it balances its lighter, slice-of-life moments with truly impactful dramatic turns, creating a narrative that keeps me on the edge of my seat. The prospect of seeing my favorite magical girls return for another adventure, facing new challenges and strengthening their resolve, is incredibly exciting, and I have high hopes for its quality.

I can't wait to see how the story progresses and what new revelations await us in this next chapter of Illya's magical girl saga.

While the fight scenes definitely improved visually this season, the pacing felt a bit off in the middle episodes, especially around the initial exposition dumps. Some character motivations still feel thinly explored, but the new antagonist does add a much-needed dynamic shift.

Man, seeing Kuro's introduction animated was just as epic as I remembered from the manga! They really nailed her smugness and fight choreography. Can't wait for the next season to see how they adapt the aftermath of this arc! 🤩

Okay, so like, Kuro just showed up out of nowhere but she's kinda cool? And Illya being all flustered is hilarious! I'm still a bit lost on why Ruby and Sapphire got separated though, is that a big deal? 🤔
